Quick Overview

The KAM Diff Lock is electrically controlled via a heavy duty solenoid located inside the diff pan. A cable runs from the solenoid to the an illuminated rocker switch in the cab that engages the diff lock. The solenoid itself is a dual coil type, electronically controlled and protected by an integral solid state commander module.

Product Description

The KAM Diff Lock is electrically controlled via a heavy duty solenoid located inside the diff pan. A cable runs from the solenoid to the an illuminated rocker switch in the cab that engages the diff lock. The solenoid itself is a dual coil type, electronically controlled and protected by an integral solid state commander module.



A short 45 amp burst of power activates the solenoid which then preloads a spring. The spring then forces the sliding dog along a newly patented locking tube witch locks the sliding dog on to the carrier. The diff locker is now engaged and give continues drive to both wheels. A constant 0.5 amp draw holds the solenoid in a locked state. This new tube design means that you can use your original shaft or shaft that have been purchased previously. If you do bead a shaft then the diff locker will still work





KAM improved the diff locker system so that you can now add LSD Shaft CV,s and Crown wheel and pinion in stages to the base diff locker unit depending on your off road and competition requirements. You can use your standard or existing shafts or up grade to KAM proven range of parts. Lock up time of is 0.4 seconds. until the driver switches it off

The new KAM SOLO modular diff locker system is more flexible and less expensive than other lockers on the market you are able to add in stages to the bases locker unit, LSD, Shaft, CV’s, Crown wheel and pinions all of these are heavy duty designed by KAM. The locker is now supplied as standard with an 8 mm aluminium diff protector guard.

FRONT AND REAR DIFF LOCKS


A: Rear diff lock on standard diff ratios

REQUIRE

All Land Rovers will benefit from a rear Diff Lock.


Note: If the diff has done more than 200,000Km it is recommended the crown wheel and pinion should be replaced as the rear diff will now be exposed to forces more than 4 times greater than the rear diff has experienced before and a 200,000Km + item is already weakening. The rear suspension ball joint rear should also be upgrades due to the extra forces applied.


B: Rear diff lock changing diff ratios

REQUIRE

All Land Rovers will benefit from a rear Diff Lock. Changing the ratios is normally used to correct the overall ratio change from fitting larger tyres. (Use KAM Rear Diff Lock and a crown wheel and pinion ratio to suit your needs.)


Note: If you choose to change ratios you MUST replace the front crown wheel and pinion to match the ratios. The rear suspension ball joint rear should also be upgraded with a heavy duty unit due to the extra forces applied.


C: Front diff locks and upgrades.

REQUIRE

If you chose B: above and are changing diff ratios the front crown wheel must be changed. The front diff can be rebuilt in standard form, upgraded centre with the option of a diff lock or an LSD latter or setup exactly what you desire from the start. (For upgrades and lockers use KAM diff locks)


D: Switchgear for diff lockers

The beauty of the KAM diff lock system is the diff lock is activeated by an electronic solenoid. This avoids extra costing in comppressors, extra labour, etc. This also allows the use of electronic switches, either KAM supplied switches or the manipulation of factory Land Rover switches to activate the diff lock. This avoids cutting extra holes in the dash and in most cases you can utilize a "blank" switch position.
