The Defender 130 has a very large difference between the tare/dead weight and gross vehicle weight of 1.300kg. The series condition for a good ride when empty is designed until approximately 700kg vehicle load capacity. Then the drive ability is woolly and the rear axle spring sinks in. The manufacturer has developed an inner spring which is coiled in opposite direction and is little different from the standard spring when empty. At high vehicle load capacity acts a much higher spring rate, thus the drive ability remains proper up to a total weight of 3,500 kg. This spring is suitable especially for use with heavy trailers or caravans. The height of the vehicle when empty remains almost the same, the rear suspension lowers only slightly when loaded.
